Any further indication that the DoD under Donald Rumsfeld was criminally negligent in supporting those of us on the ground is probably old hat by now, but this latest revelation still manages to piss me off mightily.

We found out late this afternoon that Lopez died in San Antonio. His burns (95%) were simply too great for his body to recover and after numerous amputations his mom and dad decided to take him off life support to ease his suffering.

Goddammit I hate this war.

I didn't want to bring this up, possibly because I'm not quite ready to handle talking about it yet. But considering the dreams I had last night, maybe getting it off my chest is the best ( Read more... )

Exactly a year ago today a family in Texas lost their son. For a bunch of guys sitting in the Iraqi desert, we lost a young man about our own age, a guy with a soft heart and quiet maturity.
